Ofsted has rated our club at GILBERT COLVIN as “OUTSTANDING”. Kids In Charge has a good relationship with the Gilbert Colvin School and run the club from the dining hall and the gym of the school.
The children are also able to use the outdoor facilities to play. The children enjoy playing with the huge tyres on the playing field running races and doing mini Olympics as well as eating their snack by the fountain on a sunny afternoon chatting to friends.
Here at Gilbert Colvin cooking is a firm favourite with both boys and girls and the children often bake to raise money for charity too.
The children and staff at Gilbert Colvin school enjoy warm relationships. The children are encouraged to challenge themselves with the weekly challenge and they encourage each other to beat their own scores in these challenges. Soon after arrival children are able to enjoy a healthy snack daily. children enjoy the range of foods that are from a menu prepared from suggestions children have made.
All food is prepared on site by staff who have been trained to Level 2 in Food Hygiene. Children can be collected from Park-hill* school then walk the short distance with staff to Gilbert Colvin Primary School. * minimum number required.
Children enjoy opportunities to develop their cooking and art skills with the weekly one hour clubs run at Gilbert Colvin After school club .
There are lots of craft making activities on offer at the club and children enjoy working with clay, sewing as well as painting. The children at Gilbert Colvin after school club enjoy role play immensely and can often be seen dressing up and developing character’s and scenes. The spacious hall and access to all the outside areas offer children excellent space to ‘chilax’ as well as let off steam .
Whether a child wants to rest and curl up in a cosy corner after a tiring day or has felt confined and wants to leap about in the physical area there is a place for them at Kids In Charge after school club.
The friendly staff will learn very quickly about your child and plan to support with the social development as well as academic areas.
Homework session for all children and reading session for all children is scheduled once per week with support. Staff listen to children reading their school books and can support the younger children with writing and early number work on request.
